There is something so very special about being outside working in God’s creation.  I love everything about it.  I am not a gardener, but I enjoy learning new things about gardening.  Since we moved to our current house a couple of years ago I have been trying to learn a little more each year.     One thing I have learned is that there is a lot to learn.  Another thing I learned is that this grass/plant or whatever it is,  grows big and it looks wild when it does.  It reminds me a little of my son’s hair for his senior picture a few years back.  We didn’t care for his hair, but hey, pick your battles wisely (is what I was always told).  Anyway, this plant gets bigger every year and we trim it back every spring.  So, last month when we did our trimming, I took some pictures so you could get excited with me.  Take a look at this mini-jungle.

Looks pitiful…wild and unruly!

Here is the exciting part though.  A wise woman by the name of Susie Williams gave me a huge tip after we had spent hours cutting back those wild plants the WRONG WAY.  Take a look at this:

See that silver pony tail holder at the base of the plant?

It is really duct tape!

Now take something sharp and dangerous like an electrical trimmer and give that plant a good trim.

If you cut below the duct tape then it should look like this when you finish.

Amazing,

just amazing.

This is what was left…bundles kept together for easy cleanup.

This is the result--tidy and tame.

Reminds me of something else when I think of going from unruly to  ‘tidy and tame’.

Before trim = unruly...

...after the trim = tame.
